Do I need the HP wireless assistant thing? OH yeah, for some reason I keep losing my connection to the internet. If possible I would love to get down to just one. In my bottom bar I have these icons: wireless network connection (which is the same as what I had before the downgrade), and now I have a little tower that says "WLAN:ON Bluetooth: Disabled", and then I have the Atheros wireless thing that shows some towers representing my signal strength. The one that got my internet going was the one that the business department told you to use. I got internet going! However, I now have three little wireless icons. On here i have helped countless people with downgrading and something i enjoy as the answers don't come easy.ĭave, I've done quite a bit of work today. Most support sites and tech people just won't do it as you need to put in lot of time and effort and most of all leg work on the net to find the answer's Your sound is still going to be a problem but once the UAA is installed and device manager then list's unknown HD audio on such and such bus we can try and track that down.ĭoing downgrades is not as easy as some people think, it takes time and try this and try that.

Your going to need everest as well and that you can download from here and i will tell you why. ( i know this set work as a few members have already installed it ) Microsoft UAA ( if not already installed ) I have my doubts over that to be honest i would think it might be this one myself. Right been reading the business side at hp, its the only way to find possible answers sometimes as the standard support sucks. ROOT\MEDIA\MS_MMMCI (Media control devices) ROOT\MEDIA\MS_MMDRV (Legacy audio drivers) Here are all of the drivers and things that had yellow question marks: Thank you for your help.I really hope we can get this fixed. For now Im borrowing a friends laptop for classes. I have to go to bed.class starts tomorrow. I've just been double clicking the icons and letting them go through their thing. I tried going to your link about installing drivers but it didnt work. Hp don't support this model under windows xp, they list very limited downloads, but its still worth downloading these and installing them as your network driver is listed and that will help you get back on the net and do the direct x and windows updates.įirst off.and this may be because Im trying XP home with SP2.the chipset did not work.

How to find that device id string can be found here. Once thats done please post the HD audio chips id string and i should be able to work what chip it is. Windows update, all updates on offer but please skip sp3 at this stage.

So if possible please install this list first then we can go from there. The other problem is HP list both realtek and conexant for the same laptop, i will need to know what audio chipset you have once you got the basic stuff done. Its a HD audio chip, if you try and install these with sp3 already in place the main sound card will not install because the microsoft UAA driver is incorrect in sp3. However there is going to be a problem with your sound card and the reason why i asked for sp2 only. Its a pretty straight forward laptop to downgrade and most of the drivers listed here should help you.
